What a day. The Lester Blades cycling squad, The Blades of Glory, truly lived up to their name in today’s final stage of the Tour of Margaret River.
All three Lester Blades teams, Scimitar, Sabre and Claymore, were the fastest in their respective divisions in today’s tough 3rd stage.
A clean sweep podium on the day’s podium for Roger Highfield, Rob Newton & Phillip Williams from Sabre 🥇🥈🥉, and a🥉 for James Fairbairn from Claymore in his.
In the final Team results:
Sabre came 3rd overall in their division (just 4 seconds off 2nd). Claymore got runners up in theirs; & Scimitar won their division, so another 🏆 is heading to the Lester Blades pool room
Individual results: Alistair Nixon from Scimitar was overall 🥇 in his division; James Fairbairn was overall 🥉 in his; with Top 10 finishes also for Glen Loftus , Shane Boladeras, Rob Newton, Roger Highfield, Phillip Williams, Paul Griffin, Joe Miller, Neil Le Febvre GAICD & Lionel Pero. All of which was only possible thanks to the incredible effort & support of their teammates; Stephen Johnston, Mark Johnston, Mike Evelegh, Ayrton Sue, Storme Marques, James Lush & Andy Haddon. Thank you guys 🙏🏼
Moral of the 3 days: When recruiting a team, the most important thing is to ensure you match the people to the culture. Once you have that, absolutely anything is possible.
Finally, huge shout outs to Rebecca Cotton, Brendan Morrison and the rest of the Tour of Margaret River team who put on this excellent, world standard pro-am event every year and to Daniel Carruthers 柯奇伟 – 柯丹尼 from Green Monkey who supplied our slick, aero kits this year.
